Sie ist mit circa 1490 Sprechern in Kamerun im Bezirk Océan in der Provinz Sud, mit circa 910 Sprechern in Äquatorialguinea in der Provinz Litoral und vereinzelt in Gabun verbreitet.

Klassifikation

Yasa Ngumbi ist eine Nordwest-Bantusprache und gehört neben der Sprache Ngumbi zur Yasa-Gruppe innerhalb der Bube-Benga-Gruppe, die als Guthrie-Zone A30 klassifiziert wird.

Sie hat die Dialekte Iyasa, Bweko, Vendo, Bodele, Marry, One, Asonga, Bomui, Mogana, Mooma und Mapanga.

Iyasa (Yasa, Yassa) is a Bantu language spoken in Cameroon and Equatorial Guinea by the Iyasa and Ndowe coastal fishing peoples. It is also spoken by Pygmies, perhaps Babongo, in Gabon. Approximately 3,000 people speak Iyasa,[3] though some note that this number may be an overestimation.[4]
