Munsee es una lengua en vías de extinción del subgrupo Algonquino Oriental, sendo una de las dos lenguas de los Lenape. Es muy cerca de la extinta Unami, la otra idioma Lenape. El Munsee fue antiguamente hablado por nativos en la actual Ciudad de Nueva York y las áreas vecinas, más precisamente Manhattan, Staten Island, el sul del valle del Río Hudson, el oeste de Long Island, el norte de Nueva Jersey, y el nordeste de Pensilvania.

Munsee (also known as Munsee Delaware, Delaware, Ontario Delaware, Delaware: Huluníixsuwaakan, Monsii èlixsuwakàn) is an endangered language of the Eastern Algonquian subgroup of the Algonquian language family, itself a branch of the Algic language family. Munsee is one of the two Delaware languages (also known as Lenape languages, after the tribe's autonym). It is very closely related to the Unami Delaware, but the two are sufficiently different that they are considered separate languages. Munsee was spoken aboriginally in the vicinity of the modern New York City area in the United States, including western Long Island, Manhattan Island, Staten Island, as well as adjacent areas on the mainland: southeastern New York State, the northern third of New Jersey, and northeastern Pennsylvania.[3][4]

Le munsee (connu aussi sous le nom de delaware, ou de delaware de l'Ontario) est une langue en danger de la famille des langues algonquiennes, elles-mêmes membres de la famille des langues algiques. Le munsee était parlé autrefois aux alentours du New York moderne aux États-Unis, notamment à Long Island, Manhattan, Staten Island, aussi bien que dans les zones alentour de la vallée de l'Hudson (en), du nord du New Jersey, et du nord-est de la Pennsylvanie[2],[3].

La lingua munsee (conosciuta anche con il nome di Delaware o Delaware dell'Ontario) è uno dei due sottolinguaggi della lingua delaware (o Lenape o Lunaapeew). Appartenente alla famiglia delle lingue algonchine era parlata dai nativi americani stanziati negli attuali stati di New York e Pennsylvania. Lingua in via di estinzione sopravvive tra pochi anziani della riserva indiana di Moravian (Ontario, Canada)[1].

Манси[1] (Delaware, Munsee, Ontario Delaware) — почти исчезнувший североамериканский индейский язык, который принадлежит восточноалгонкинской подгруппе алгонкинской языковой семьи, являющейся ветвью алгской языковой семьи. На языке говорит народ манси (часть народа делаваров), проживающий в резервации Моравиантаун на юге провинции Онтарио в Канаде. Раньше язык использовался также в непосредственной близости от города Нью-Йорк (включая Лонг-Айленд, Манхэттен, Статен-Айленд), а также на прилегающих территориях долины Хадсон штата Нью-Йорк, на северной трети штата Нью-Джерси и на северо-востоке штата Пенсильвания в США. Похож на вымерший язык унами.
