Naba is a Nilo-Saharan language spoken by approximately 900,000 people in Chad. Those who speak this language are called Lisi, a collective name for three closely associated ethnic groups, the Bilala, the Kuka and the Medogo, that represent the three dialects in which Naba is subdivided. They live mainly in the Batha Prefecture, but the Kuka are also in Chari-Baguirmi. Ethnologue estimates the lexical similarity among the three dialects to be no less than 99%.[1] Arabic is often known as a second language.

Le naba est une langue soudanique centrale parlée au sud-est du Tchad par le peuple des Lisi, composé des Bilala, des Kuka et des Medogo. Ces trois ethnies, très proches entre elles, donnent leurs noms aux trois dialectes du naba, eux-mêmes très proches en termes de grammaire et de vocabulaire commun. Selon une estimation réalisé en 2006, le naba était alors parlé par environ 278 000 personnes, dont 137 000 Bilala, 76700 Kuka et 19200 Medogo[1]. Dans la norme ISO 639-3, le code du naba est mne.
