Alexandra ("Sasha") Yurievna Aikhenvald (Moscú, 1 de septiembre de 1957) es una lingüista rusa especializada en tipología lingüística y en lenguas de la familia arawak de la Amazonia. Igualmente ha realizado un importante trabajo sobre la categoría gramatical denominada evidencialidad. Aikhenwald ha publicado más de 100 artículos en revistas especializadas.

Biografía

Alexandra Aikhenvald nació en una familia rusófona de origen judío originaria de Moscú. Muy tempranamente se interesó por el aprendije de lenguas, ya de niña aprendió algo de español de un amigo de sus padres, y se interesó por estudiar latín y estudios clásicos en la universidad. Uno de sus amigos hablaba alemán, y le enseñó dicha lengua durante su educación secundaria. Durante esos años también aprendió francés.

Posteriormente su apellido judío le produjo dificultades en su intención de finalizar estudios universitarios en la Unión Soviética. Sin embargo, alcanzó su licenciatura en la Universidad Estatal de Moscú, con una tesis de licenciatura sobre las lenguas anatolias. También estudió sánscrito, acadio, lituano, finés, húngaro, árabe, italiano y griego antiguo. Fuera de sus clases también aprendió estonio y hebreo.

Alexandra Yurievna „Sasha“ Aikhenvald (eigene Schreibung; * 1. September 1957 in Moskau, Russische SFSR, Sowjetunion) ist eine russisch-australische Sprachwissenschaftlerin, spezialisiert auf Sprachtypologie, die Arawak-Sprachen (Indianersprachen Südamerikas), Berbersprachen, Sprachen Papua-Neuguineas (Sepik) und der australischen Sprachen. Als Hochschullehrerin unterrichtet sie seit 1994 in Australien, seit 2009 als Professorin an der James Cook University; sie ist Mitgründerin der Language and Culture Research Group.
