Sonqori, also known as Sonqori Turkic, is a dialect of Southern Oghuz Turkic[2] spoken in Sonqor (Sunqur), east of Kermānšāh, in a large valley separated from the rest of Kurdistan.[1] According to the Encyclopædia Iranica, Sonqori is one of noteworthy Southern Oghuz dialects of Iran alongside Qashqai and Äynallu.[1] The Encyclopædia Iranica notes that K. H. Menges had already characterized Sonqori, together with Qashqai and Äynallu, as a transitional form between Azerbaijani and Khorasani Turkic.[1] Ethnologue lists it as a dialect of the South Azerbaijani language.[3]

Encyclopædia Iranica также отмечает, что К. Х. Менгес характеризовал сонкорский, кашкайский и айналлу как переходную форму между азербайджанским и хорасанско-тюркским[1].
