Le palmyrénien était le dialecte araméen de Palmyre, en Syrie[1]. Il est connu uniquement par des inscriptions (plus de 2 500 datées entre -44 et 273 ap. J.-C.)[1],[2]. L'écriture palmyrénienne, déchiffrée en 1754, est la première écriture orientale ancienne dont le sens a été retrouvé à l'époque moderne[3].

La lingua palmirena (o palmireno) era un dialetto aramaico occidentale parlato nei primi tre secoli dell'era cristiana nella città siriana di Palmira. Il palmireno presentava tuttavia influenze dell'aramaico orientale, dovute agli intensi rapporti commerciali che intercorrevano tra Palmira e la Mesopotamia.
